Spanish level test: Do you want to know fast how good your Spanish is?

by | Jun 22, 2020 | Learn Spanish

Do you want to know how good your Spanish is? Then our quick Spanish level test might be a good option for you. You should keep reading below if you’re interested in learning more about Spanish-level tests and the different levels of Spanish.

How does the Spanish level test work?

First, you only have to answer the questions with “Yes,” “No,” or “I can do way better than that!”.

Lots of Spanish level test on the internet test your knowledge about grammar and sometimes vocabulary.

We don’t do that because we believe that this is not telling you what your Spanish level is. For example, only because you know when to use the verbs “ser” and “estar” in Spanish doesn’t mean you can have a basic conversation about your family.

It is common to certify you a specific language level that the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) defined.

It presents 34 scales of listening, reading, spoken interaction, spoken production, and writing activities. It’s necessary to let language schools all over the world know what to teach their students and how to organize their syllabus. Also, it gives you a quick orientation on where to start and what to improve.

The levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) are the following:

A0 (no knowledge in the foreign language at all), A1, B1, B2, C1, C2 (which is the highest possible level you can achieve). C2 means you will be able to speak, write, and understand the foreign language in an academic context, for example, at a university.

What if I am not sure about the answers to the questions in the Spanish level test?

No problem, do your best to answer the questions as honestly as you can. Also, we must mention that we can not test your listening comprehension and speaking skills with this test. It’s all about giving you an orientation on what your Spanish level is.

Anyway, we found some internet resources that are helpful to give you a more accurate idea about your Spanish level. There is the DUOLINGO CEFR CHECKER, for example.  It’s possible to check your written Spanish level very quickly here. It’s an interesting tool.

Also, we found other resources. You can try a Spanish level test at a Spanish school called CERVANTES ESCUELA INTERNATIONAL, which is a more vocabulary based test.

Finally, we believe that the best idea is to take some Spanish lessons, online or in a real classroom. A good teacher should be able to evaluate your Spanish level quickly.

Summary: Spanish level tests

As you can see, learning a foreign language is a pretty complicated thing that takes more than just memorizing some vocabulary and grammar.

Listening comprehension, writing skills, reading comprehension, spoken interaction, and production in the Spanish language should be part of every professional Spanish course you take.
